Firestorm started its musical activity in 2000 as an Iron Maiden cover band; after building an adequate live experience it was time to write our own songs.

We became a power progressive metal band, inspired by acts such as Dream Theater, Angra and Labyrinth. The original lineup was: Andrea Ottavianelli (vocals), Daniele Serenelli (guitar), Manuele Pesaresi (guitar), Marco Brugè (keys), Luca Raffelli bass). Lucio Bacchiocchi (drums).

Despite the influences our ultimate goal has always been the development of a personal musical identity built on modern and original stylistic solutions and sounds. The first outcome of our work was the demo cd “The Never-Ending Course of Time”, recorded in our own studio in 2003. It was acclaimed by italian and international webzines giving us hope and strength for the future.

In the following 3 years the line-up changed dramatically: Lorenzo Alessandri, Moreno Baldoni and Simone Polenta joined the band in 2004. Riccardo Curzi became the new singer in early 2006. After the band was completely reborn we started recording our debut album in the most genuine possible way, without the aid of digital tricks such as triggers on drums, quantization, auto-tuners, etc.

In early 2008 the band decided the split up from bass player Lorenzo Alessandri because of musical divergences. He’s been replaced by Simone Monterubbiano from power metal band Anthima.

Firestorm is intensively working on new ideas for the follow up to “Web of Deceit”. The inspiration is always fresh and constant so we are confident that we can start producing a new album by the end of 2009.
